תגלית כזו הופיעה השבוע כאשר ארכיאולוגים גילו במערכת הניקוז של ירושלים העתיקה פעמון עשוי מזהב. למי היה שייך הפעמון? אף אחד לא יודע בבירור. מה שכן, הם טוענים כי יש יסוד סביר להניח שמדובר בפעמון שהיה על בגדו של הכוהן הגדול.
"בלי רעש, בלי צלצולים" אנחנו אוהבים להשתמש במשפט זה כדי להגדיר דברים שנעשים בענווה, בצנעה ובלי בלגן מיותר. אך הכוהן הגדול כן עטה פעמונים על שולי בגדיו - עם רעש, עם צלצולים.
מדוע? כי אנחנו חיים בעולם בו כל הדברים השליליים והלא-מוסריים בעליל לא מתביישים לשווק את סחורתם בראש כל חוצות. אנו מותקפים ללא הרף במסרים חומריים ואף לא מוסריים בעליל. כל מי שהטוב, המוסרי והאלוקי קרוב לליבו, צריך להבין שאנו לא יכולים עוד להצטנע ולשמור את ערכינו לעצמנו. אנו חייבים להציג לעולם בגאווה אורח-חיים שהוא גם מודל לחיקוי.
