17 "Taliban" militants killed in joint Afghan operations:  
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kunduz, Balkh, Ghazni and Helmand provinces of Afghanistan, Afghan Interior Ministry said following the statement adding that at least 18 Taliban militants were also detained following the operations. 



Two NATO occupation force service members killed in Afghanistan:  NATO also did not provide the nationalities of the dead. The deaths bring the number of international service members killed in Afghanistan so far this month to at least 44.

US Kills 7 People In Pakistan:

Officials: 7 Iraqi police killed in attacks:  Two bombings and a drive-by shooting Sunday killed seven Iraqi police in a former al-Qaida stronghold in the western part of the country, authorities said, another sign of the militants' resurgence. 



Six killed in spate of bombings in Iraq:  Four people were killed when a car bomb went off in a market in Al-Muqdadiyah, north-east of Baghdad, on Sunday. A similar attack east of Fallujah killed two policemen and wounded three others. 



Iraqi PM criticizes Kurdish region for barring army from Syrian border area:  Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki criticized authorities of the country's semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan for preventing Iraqi army soldiers sent by Baghdad from reaching a border point with Syria located at a disputed area controlled by Kurdish forces. 



Kurds in secret weapons deal: Iraqi official:  "This step is a breach of the law and the Iraqi constitution, because the only side that can (buy arms) is the federal ministry of defence," the official said. 



Assad's forces claim victory in Damascus:  Government forces have succeeded in reimposing control of the capital after a punishing battle, but rebels are still in control of sections of Aleppo, clashing with reinforced army troops for several days. 



Syria's government claims gains in Aleppo: -  Syrian tanks, artillery and helicopter gunships pounded rebel-held neighborhoods in the commercial hub of Aleppo on Sunday in a bid to retake control as President Bashar Assad's regime accused regional powerhouses Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey of trying to destroy the country. 


Turkey masses tanks, weapons, missile batteries on Syria border:  Turkey has sent a convoy of tanks, weapons and ground-to-air missile batteries to the border with Syria, adding to its already fortified defences around the frontier, Anatolia reported Monday. 



Saudi spy chief aids Syrian rebel war:  Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the new spy chief of Saudi Arabia, is not exactly a man of the shadows - but he is at the heart of the US-Saudi intelligence axis that is helping the Syrian rebels to dig in and arm up.
