Mexico: Home of ARTICLE 19 Mexico Director raided by intruders

The home of the Director of ARTICLE 19 Mexico and Central America was raided at the weekend. Intruders broke into the house where Dario Ramirez lives with his family and stole computers and paperwork containing information about the organisations work, together with other valuables. This is the fifth serious security incident staff at the Mexico branch of the international free expression organisation have suffered within a year, including a death threat against Ramirez.

Venezuela: Government must take concrete actions to enable dialogue 

After 39 days of widespread protests in Venezuela 31 people have been killed during demonstrations, hundreds injured, 1737 protesters have been arrested, and 70 journalists have been attacked when covering the protests. The Venezuelan State must urgently investigate the violence and the excessive use of force against demonstrators and extend an invitation to UN Special Rapporteurs to visit the country and assess the human rights situation. Read more>

The government of Syria should immediately and unconditionally release the arbitrarily detained human rights defender Mazen Darwish and his colleagues Hani Al-Zitani and Hussein Ghareer, 61 human rights organizations said today.
