Many native tribes in the northeast and the southwest still speak about legends of giants with red hair and how their ancestors fought long and terrible wars against these giants when they first encountered them in North america, over 15,000 years ago.

Even in Central america, the ancient Aztecs and Maya recorded their encounters with a terrifying race of giants in the north when they ventured out on expeditions, exploring new land.

Make room, Lucy! A fossil of a 3.4 million-year-old hominin has been found by researchers who say this could be an entirely new species of early human, previously unknown to history.

This new and distinct hominin is thought to have lived side by side with Australopithecus afarensis (commonly identified with the well-known skeleton “Lucy”), reports an article by Nature, and was one of several diverse species of hominins living in the northern region of Ethiopia between 3.3 and 3.5 million years ago.

The teeth and jawbones found in the Woranso-Mille area of northern Ethiopia were recovered in 2011 and the tail end of a long dig.

Dubbed Australopithecus deyiremeda from the local Afar language meaning ‘close’ and ‘relative’, the remains were uncovered only 35 kilometers (22 miles) from where Lucy and other A. afarensis fossils were found, at Hadar.

The Lanzhou screw is another mysterious object discovered in recent years that seems to challenge mainstream archaeology and history. It was discovered in 2002, and has since generated great amount of attention among collectors and researchers.

The most mysterious part of this object is that, within the piece of rock, a metal screw was discovered. The mysterious pear-shaped stone is about 6×8 cm and weighs around 466 grams.

But it is not a common rock and the metal shaped screw just adds to the mystery of the rock that according to researchers is around 300 million years old.

As a matter of fact, the mysterious black rock has geologists scratching their head.
